Hello there,

I've just finished an impact report for a charity I work for and when I've come to exporting to PDF the file size is @15 mb which is a bit big for emails etc. It won't compress any further no matter what settings I use. Usually these reports I produce will compress to about 2 or 3 mb quite happily when selecting small size PDF on the export menu but not in this case and I'm stumped as to why. I tried it in a trial version of Publisher 2 with the same result. The document is 28 pages long and not image heavy. Can you help?!

Welcome back to the Serif Affinity Forums, Paul. :)

Check that the text isn’t being converted to curves on export. That’s a common reason for ballooning PDF file sizes.

Thank you! And thank you for replying 🙂

Excuse my ignorance but how would I check if it's being converted to curves?

Cheers

If it hasn’t been converted to curves you’ll be able to select and copy the text in your PDF viewer. In Publisher, make sure you haven’t applied any filter effects such as a drop shadow, and review the settings displayed when you click on the ‘More…’ button in the Export dialog.

Oh okay, I'm with you now! No, no text has been converted to curves.  I've been playing around with export setting and checking the Rasterise Everything box and that seems to have halved the file size to a more respectable 7mb at 96 dpi

Thank you for getting back to me!
