I tried to create a panorama of 84 top down photos into a composite. The result, which 9 hours later is still not done, is the wrong shape. It's clearly trying to make a 3d pano or some other thing I don't want it to do. I only bought this software for this and, at that, only after I was assured by a sales rep that it was possible and straight forward to do. I have followed the steps in the video they directed me to.

Please please add an option for photo stitching in 2 dimensions separate from 3 dimensions. There is clearly some failure in your "how do I make this 3d" logic. I've attached a copy of the process sample, because it might help

If it doesn't work, proceed in smaller steps: Take a few images, stitch them, crop them, save lossless as TIFF or PNG. Take another batch, stitch, crop, save, etc. Then stitch the intermediate steps to larger panoramas. And so on.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

So what you're saying is the software doesn't work?

For reference, when I say "does not work"; I mean that Microsoft ICE (which is the software I was trying to replace, as my windows machine is getting on in years and the Mac's architecture seems like it should lend itself incredibly well to this problem) finished in less than half an hour and Affinity doesn't work.

While I could do all of the work to rotate and line up the images, they're not all the same compass orientation, you're talking about a significant amount of work.

The drone takes photograps on the curves of the turn. ICE handles this seamlessly and faultlessly. A piece of software nearly ten years old on a piece of hardware nearly 5 does in ~ten minutes what Affinity will not do. The one thing I asked if it does and was told "yes, watch this video".

Hey @CuAnnan welcome to the forums,

The Panorama tool isn't currently able to stitch 360° panoramas (I assume this is what you're referring to when you mention 3D) so it shouldn't be trying to do this with your top down image set.

So I can investigate and raise this internally, could you possibly provide me with your referenced images so we can look into why the stitch shape is incorrect along with why there is an extensive processing/stitching time, I have provided a private dropbox link below for uploads

Many thanks

I'm trying to stitch images into a flat 2d panorama, not a 360 panorama. The images are on their way up.
