Hi @Peter Eckardt apologies on the late reply,

Could you provide us with a few recent crash reports? I've linked a forum thread below which details how to find these.

Also, have you noticed any specific pattern to the app crashes, for example is it when using a specific tool or working in a specific file?

Thanks for sending over the reports, they all point towards different errors, making it more difficult to pinpoint a specific fix, therefore I’ve listed some potential solutions below to try first:

 

Update your GPU Drivers 

Make sure that you have the latest available drivers installed for your GPU, i've linked the AMD and Nvidia and Intel driver search tools below, dependant on your GPU.

Set ‘Renderer’ to ‘WARP’

Setting the Renderer setting to ‘WARP under Preferences > Performance offloads tasks from the GPU to the CPU which can impact performance, but also confirm if the crashing is a result of a problem with the Graphics card.

 

Factory Reset the app via a CTRL runup

This will reset all custom brushes, assets presets etc. within the app, but may also help alleviate crashes in some circumstances, this can be done by following the below:

  1. Close all Affinity Apps
  2. Hold CTRL and Launch Photo 2 whilst still holding CTRL
  3. A ‘clear user data’ menu will appear, tick all boxes excluding the ‘Deactivate’ box at the bottom
  4. Press ‘Clear’ and the app will now launch.

Try the 2.1 beta 

The 2.1 beta is publicly available and can be installed along side the current release version and includes many fixes and improvements, I've linked the Signup page below.

Hello Nathan!

 

Thank's for the Tipps. Unfortunately, both version 2 and the beta version are now running very slowly. The program still hangs after a short time. Version 1, on the other hand, continues to run without problems. Apparently I could have saved the money for the update.

Sorry to hear that, if you haven't already you could also try the .MSI installers which install as an unsandboxed app similar to how V1 installed, some users have reported improved benchmarks and overall app performance when compared to the standard .MSIX apps. I've linked a guide below on how to find and install via the .MSI installers, be sure to uninstall your all your current affinity apps before installing the .MSI versions as having both on your PC can result in the apps conflicting with one-another.
