Fonts will not show up in Designer 2

No Matter what we do, our main font Lato will not show up in all its versions in Designer 2 - can you help please?

 

We're on a new mac

Hi @Gbones,

The font seem fine here on macOS, three questions...

1. Are you using the Adobe or Google Fonts version of Lato?
2. How are you installing the font family, Apple's built in Font Book app or with other font management software?
3. Checking the obvious, have you installed the entire font family or just Lato Medium?

thank you , we just downloaded from here Download free fonts - Lato (latofonts.com)

used Font Book and installed all font versions

I'm assuming you've also tried quitting Designer and relaunching?

And I assume you installed the .ttf version of the fonts rather than the web fonts?

You could try to reset Designer back to its default settings by holding down the CTRL key while launching the app. When the Clear User Data window appears, click Select All and then Clear but be aware that resetting the app back to its default settings will lose any custom settings such as keyboard shortcuts and brushes etc., so you should back any important settings up first.

I tried the download you linked to and they are working as expected here... I think had there been any conflict with another font you would have received a warning in Font Book...

Hopefully some other users can also install the fonts and see if they experience any issues.

To help the support team could you upload a screenshot of your About this Mac overview screen just in case it's an OS issue.

I had zero issues with the download and the zip archive was fine here so not quite sure what that was about... 😜

will delete old versions of fonts and install this instead and let you know  Lato - Google Fonts

Let us know how you get on... one thing to note is that the Google version is missing a few weights, namely:

• Hairline / Hairline Italic
• Heavy / Heavy Italic
• Medium / Medium Italic
• Semi Bold / Semi Bold Italic

So if you use any of those weights you may have an issue, but it would still be worth testing anyway to rule things out... Also, try the Designer Factory reset as that too could make a difference...

FYI - the Google Fonts version is v1.

The version from the developer website is v2.015 - and it includes many fixes, and more features - suggest you use that version.

There is a v3 in development, but the project is stalled right now.
