teddy20 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 I recently updated to the newest version of Designer and I'm having an issue when trying to select something. When I try to select a layer underneath (but still visible) it selects the layer on top, even though that's not where I'm clicking. In the example attached, I'm trying to select the navy shadow on the A, but it keeps selecting the light blue top A. The layer isn't locked and I have the 'edit all layers' turned on on the layers panel. Probably an easy fix, but I can't figure it out. Thanks for any help! Quote
Hangman Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 @teddy20, this is a known bug which has been reported and logged by the team at Serif so the hope is we will see a fix in an upcoming release. In the interim, does Cmd Click work for you when trying to select the layer below? teddy20 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Thank you so much for letting me know that! I thought I was missing something. Do you mean holding the command button while trying to select the lower object? If yes, not that isn't working. Thanks so much again for your help! Quote

Try it using the Alt Key instead, I believe it is supposed to work with the Cmd Key but in regards to this particular bug the Alt Key seems to be a workaround... Not currently, as in there isn't yet an extrude option or a blend tool where you can specify the number of iterations between two shapes so in general it's a simple manual affair... 3D Text.mp4 Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Thanks for your help! That's no problem at all, glad the Alt key is working its magic... it would be nice to eventually see an extrude and/or blend tool added to the toolset to provide more options and making simulated 3D text easier to create...
