rich22 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I occasionally use Faststone Viewer to quickly scan through images, and occasionally perform some preliminary edits just to 'check things out'. Today I tried adding the Photo 2 executable to Faststone so that I can easily invoke it when I want to do an edit from the viewer. Unfortunately, that simple task no longer works, and it has something to do with this "new" way Photo 2 is installed. The only reason I know this is that If I try to invoke the executable directly, it doesn't work! The failure seemingly has to do with permissions. I started looking at security settings, but realized it would be foolish to start mucking with that as I'd probably render my system unusable. Is there any way to make this installation work in a more "normal", expected manner? (I'm on Windows 10.) Quote
walt.farrell Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Faststone Image Viewer is not properly coded to handle Windows Apps, nor App Execution Aliases, and you need that support for a program to invoke Photo 2. It will, though, allow you to invoke a BAT file, so you could create one as I describe here and point to it from Faststone Image Viewer. Alternatively you could uninstall the MSIX-based version of Photo 2 that you currently have, and install the EXE/MSI-based version instead, as described here: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. rich22 Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 Thanks for the quick answer! I think I'll give the MSI installer version a try. walt.farrell 1 Quote
