How to export/save Luminosity Range Mask Presets

Recommended Posts

I am looking at creating a number of Luminosity Range Mask Presets. I will want to share these with other users. Before I begin, I want to know that they can be exported/saved to an external location/file. It would be unfortunate to spend the time doing so only to find that I cannot share them.

Question, can custom presets be saved/exported?

There is no formal support for exporting them, nor for importing them.

On Windows, at least, all the live mask presets are saved in the single file livemask_presets.propcol, which is located in the %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Common\2.0\user directory.

In theory, you could copy that file and give it to someone else, but to use it they would have to overlay any of their own live mask presets that they had already generated. So it's really only useful for you to use as a backup for your own system.

On the other hand, you could share a .afphoto file with several Luminosity Range Mask layers in it. Then each of the users could click on a mask thumbnail, which would bring up the mask dialog, and they could create their own Presets at that point.
