I was using Affinity Designer in the Pixel Persona painting on a new layer with a brush when it suddenly crashed on my MacBook Pro and Wacom digital drawing pad. Afterwards none of my brushes would paint and all of my personal brushes were deleted. I uninstalled and reinstalled AD. No fix. Then I reimported my brushes. 2/3rds of my brushes were suddenly gone. The remaining brushes still did not paint. Checked all settings on brushes, views, and layers to no effect. Did full restart. No fix.

This is driving me nuts. The program worked fine for over a year and now suddenly stops working in the middle of my project. Please help.

Hey @Isaac Heard welcome to the forums & apologies for the delayed response,

Unfortunately it sounds like your brushes file is corrupted, re-installing the app doesn't touch the local brushes file. If you're still having issues with this, I would recommend following the below to factory reset your brushes via a CTRL runup:

  1. Close down Designer
  2. Hold down CTRL and launch Designer whilst still holding CTRL
  3. A 'Clear user data' menu should appear, tick 'Reset Brushes' and then press 'Clear'
  4. If you have your .afbrushes files for your custom brushes, try re-importing them again and using them.
