Page numbering broken:

Recommended Posts

I've got 7 master pages and 4 sections in a deck I'm creating. most of the master pages have a "#" page number inserted, and some of the master pages have a second text box with "<Section Name>". All of the section names are appearing correctly, but the page numbers are a mess. All sections are using "continue page numbering" but the page numbers for my 24pg document look like this:

  1. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  2. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  3. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  4. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  5. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  6. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  7. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  8. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)
  9. 9
  10. 1 (this is the first page of section 2, but it should show as page number 10)
  11. 11
  12. 1
  13. 1
  14. 1
  15. 1 (this is the first page of section 3, but it should show as page number 15)
  16. 1
  17. 1
  18. 1
  19. 1
  20. 2
  21. 2 (this is the first page of section 4, but it should show as page number 21)
  22. 2
  23. 2
  24. not shown (master slide does not have a page # field)

So only pg 9 and pg 11 are correct from the 15 pages that should show a number. To fix it I have deleted all of the sections and removed all of the page numbers from the master slides and re-created them from scratch. I might just add a page number manually to every page at this point but that's obviously not how it's designed or desired to work. This seems like a bug to me.

Text wrapping. The text boxes were juuuuuuust not wide enough for a second character and were getting clipped. Leave this post as a help to others and a testament to my going all the way around the world and back to solve a simple issue.

I learned to use really large Frame Text Text frames instead of small ones for Page numbers etc. In my work quite often they will be the width of the page and quite tall in relation to the actual content. Also it makes them easier to spot if I name them, Left Page Number and Right Page Number in the Master Page Layers panel. I name all the elements on the Master Page(s).

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
