Wrong colors in SVG / EPS export when using Adjustment Layers

Recommended Posts

Steps required:

1. Open any vector image and edit its layer colors using adjustment layers (maybe it has to do with using multiple adjustment layers).

2. Export the image as SVG and look at either the preview or exported image. Exporting as PNG preserves the colors as seen when editing.

Expected outcome: The SVG export should have the same colors as in the editor. Otherwise editing the colors wouldn't make any sense.

I attached a sample file that does not export to SVG or EPS as expected.

Yo are using a CMYK document and add an HSL adjustment. This is quite a grey area, other Apps do not allow adjustments on CMYK format documents at all.

The main issue is that most adjustment will create unexpected behaviour, because the 4 CMYK channels contain one redundant channel, and nobody knows how e.g. HSL should work on CMYK. It may work by converting to RGB and back to CMYK, with unknown impact on K channel. Best example is invert adjustment which produces different (confusing for most) results in CMYK vs. RGB.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.
