Constraints issue with layers and groups + unwanted masking

Hi, I am not sure if this is normal but it looks like a bug to me. I am not aware of it being discussed on the forum after I did a quick search for the solution.

Problem:

  1. Using constraints with layers and groups lead to unwanted masking. ie the child objects will be masked by the group/layer boundary. This is not the case if groups or layers are not constrained yet. (photo below)
  2. Whenever using constraints on a layer's (not grouped) child object, it will not be denote on the layers panel, (as it does for grouped items, see the image
    • This leads to confusion, because we don't know that the layer's child objects are constrained. Now considering that constraining leads to unwanted masking, it ends up like a bug, because it makes no sense and extremely hard to debug.
  3. If let say we touch any of the constraints setting in the constraint panel, for an object within a group or layer, the whole group or layer will be bricked, even if we revert back to constraint default setting. To use groups as an example, basically there is no way for us to unconstraint a constrained group (reverting all constraints setting after the experimentation or changing mind. The masking be there for ever.

Note in all photos I have reverted the constraint setting back to default/normal but as you can see the masking is still there. Unfortunately the only workaround at the moment is to ungroup regroup, or ungroup outside of a layer and create a new layer and place them all back it.

Happy to upload a video as well if you feel necessary. It is quite confusing to make the point across I believe. but I hope the direction for reproduction of the bug is clear.

thanks

Emran

Hi @The3Emran,

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

A screen recording and a copy of your .afdesign file would certainly be helpful here, as it should help me to better understand the issue and get it logged with our devs - if you'd like a private upload link for these files, please don't hesitate to ask :)
