Affinity Photo 2 brush and asset issues.

The 1st version didn't have this issue, gave more freedom on installation.

Actually, no, in my experience. Even if you installed the application itself to a different drive (which was easy), the data like brushes and assets for V1 went into %AppData%\Roaming\Affinity which is on drive C unless you figured out how to move it.

Now it's in %USERPROFILE%\.affinity which Windows also puts on drive C. But also, as in V1, you can tell Windows to move it. (Or, really, you can move it yourself, and tell Windows to use the copy you moved.)

Here's what I did for V1:

  1. Created E:\Affinity-AppData
  2. Ensured no Affinity applications were running.
  3. Copied the contents of C:\Users\Walt\AppData\Roaming\Affinity to E:\Affinity-AppData
  4. Deleted C:\Users\Walt\AppData\Roaming\Affinity
  5. Started a Windows Command Prompt by right-clickng on its icon and choosing More > Run as Administrator then issued the following commands
  6. cd \Users\Walt\AppData\Roaming
  7. mklink /J Affinity E:\Affinity-AppData

Something very similar could be used to move that data for V2. Here is an untested version that might work for V2:

  1. Create E:\Affinity-AppData
  2. Ensure no Affinity applications were running.
  3. Copy the contents of C:\Users\Walt\.affinity to E:\Affinity-AppData
  4. Delete C:\Users\Walt\.affinity
  5. Start a Windows Command Prompt by right-clickng on its icon and choosing More > Run as Administrator then issue the following commands
  6. cd \Users\Walt\
  7. mklink /J .affinity E:\Affinity-AppData

(Obviously, you'll want your Windows username instead of Walt, and you'll want your chosen drive, rather than E:, but that should move the data. And you can choose the directory name; it doesn't have to be Affinity-AppData like I used.)

As for the installation itself, Start > Settings and you should be able to tell Windows to Move your existing apps, if they're not running. Some users have reported this works, some have reported it doesn't. I'm not sure what's going on there. In any case, Start > Settings > Apps and see if you can click on one of the apps and choose Move.

If not, you might be able to Uninstall the app, and then tell Windows to install new apps on a different drive. That's Start > Settings > System > Storage and then Change Where New Content is Saved in the right pane.
