Text Box background V2

I would like to have a white background to black text, but really struggling to find out how to do this. Help text mentions background but I’m unable to find how to do it.

Thanks. You have a few choices in Designer (more in Publisher).

Designer: 

1. Art Text: Set a background color in the Character Panel.
2. Frame Text: The approach for Art Text can also be used with Frame Text, but if you want the entire frame to have the white background create a Rentangle of the same size as the Text Frame, fill it with white, and group them together. 

If you were in Publisher, you could use the Text Frame panel to set the fill of the frame.

Thank you Walt! Thought I was going mad today wondering why a copied and pasted text frame with background colour from Publisher could not be modified. Seems like a strange omission in Designer considering all the information is still there and editable if copied back to Publisher.

There are several Publisher functions that could make sense to have in Designer, but generally I think they're pushing Designer as the vector design app, and Publisher as the app for working with Text. Though Publisher provides a good comproimise with StudioLink, which allows you to have access to functions from Publisher and from Designer's Designer Persona (and most functions from Photo's Photo Persona) in one application environment, if you own all 3 applications.
