AndyMac
Just started trial of Designer v2 and found two issues when running on Windows 11 22H2, noting that I have explicitly removed Internet Explorer Mode on my installation: Help comes up with a script error (attached screenshot) when going to any page
Dan C
Hi AndyMac, Could you try typing this into CMD (start > run >cmd) - regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx This should re-enable the service required. If this doesn't work, our help files are available here: https://affinity.help/ Lee
AndyMac
Seems to be the same... most (if not all except the following - not tested 100% of pages) working, but the "Saving and Exporting --> Save" page comes up with "Cannot reach this page" (see 2nd screenshot) and "Saving and Exporting --> Export Settings" page comes up with script error (attached, 1st screenshot) - not tested end to end but these are some examples. It may just be these two pages that are problematic.
Dan C
That isolates it to your computer only/browser then as it's using a Microsoft standard HLP, it's a little beyond the scope of support to assist you with your browser. We can only recommend using another browser/device to look at the help files on another device such as a phone using the above URL. AndyMac
No this is in the Designer Help program and not the browser!!!! and the browser is standard Chromium Edge, so I'm not sure why you're saying support can't help with this. Given it is just two pages, then there is something in the help file that must be incorrect.
Dan C
Designer uses a browser to display this, if there's a problem with your browser, this will manifest itself in a fault on the help file also. You are the only reporter of an issue with the help file, the only significant difference we know of is that you have a modified Windows installation. Please test this on another unmodified device to isolate the issue to your modified version of Windows. The help file itself isn't the issue. AndyMac
I'm not sure what you mean by “modified Windows install” unless you are talking about IE Mode being disabled. As this is an option that is easily available to any user through Optional Features in Settings and something that can be controlled through Group Policy as well (Disable IE mode on edge - Microsoft Q&A) I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that new applications work in Windows 11 with IE Mode disabled in the settings. And anyway, I've just tested this on a standard Windows 11 VM where IE Mode was ENABLED and have exactly the same issue! I've just grabbed the URL from the error box and it is specifically for the file C:/Program Files/WindowsApps/SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityDesigner2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt/App/DesignerHelp/Contents/Resources/resources/js/comparisonTable.js The error (as before) is Line 106, character 19 - unable to get property length of undefined or null reference - which seems to refer to the variable "nonpriorityColumns" The address not being found is: C:/Program Files/WindowsApps/SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityDesigner2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt/App/DesignerHelp/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/pages/ShareSavePrint/save.html and looking for this file, it is NOT physically there - as can be seen from this directory listing Directory of C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityDesigner2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\DesignerHelp\Contents\Resources\English.lproj\pages\ShareSavePrint 16/11/2022 08:05 <DIR> . 16/11/2022 08:05 <DIR> .. 16/11/2022 08:05 2,622 aboutPackaging.html 16/11/2022 08:05 5,773 bleed.html 16/11/2022 08:05 4,589 createSVG.html 16/11/2022 08:05 4,931 creatingPackages.html 16/11/2022 08:05 6,737 export.html 16/11/2022 08:05 4,607 openingPackages.html 16/11/2022 08:05 4,119 print.html 16/11/2022 08:05 3,106 resavingPackages.html 16/11/2022 08:05 2,355 share.html 9 File(s) 38,839 bytes 2 Dir(s) 1,566,268,973,056 bytes free Maybe you could pass this information onto your developers to see if they can fix the issue.
