adding colored text to grayscale image

Recommended Posts

I've chosen a black and white stock photo specifically because I want to add one word in bright red. But as I work on this image, I've discovered that Affinity Designer will only give me grayscale options for text in this image. I've tried to copy and paste the red letters in from another document, I've fiddled around with various controls. But nothing lets me add that one word in red.
I'm sure there's an easy way to do this, I've tried to google it. But all I can find is instructions on how to change everything in the image from grayscale to colors.

Open to suggestions.

I've looked at that, but the only color settings it's letting me choose are variations on grayscale.
(I'm on Windows)

You need to convert the color format to RGB or CMYK. In Designer that will be in Document Setup.
