Linking Affinity V2 to Steelseries engine (and other app linking question)

Recommended Posts

I own all of affinity suite v1 and now i'm using v2 in trial mode to decide whether to buy it or not (especially because of the sandboxed msix issue, and no i didn't use microsoft photo to view my image). I'm quite satisfied with the v1 despite of it limitation because it got it own pros as well (former user of adobe suite here).

and this is some of the issue i'm facing right now (still trying to fit the v2 to my current pipeline/workflow, and haven't tried all of relevant software like blender, adobe substance, faststone, darktable etc, but some is already answered in this forum).

I'm using steelseries engine to map my keyboard macros to affinity, but i encounter this problem:

  • cannot use the alias exe file on the user local folder because of "file cannot by accessed by the system"
  • cannot use the aflauncher.exe file because it didn't trigger my custom keymap
  • no it didn't accept the .bat file.
  • no it didn't support arguments
  • no it cannot manually type the app name

The only exe file accepted is the original photo.exe file, but it's under the affinity version number folder so i have to remap for every update

is there any other solution?

---

And another question is, i successfuly linked Capture One to afphoto, but everytime i send it to afphoto, the dialog box to choose default app is triggered (i'm using tiff file as roundtrip file and no, i dont want afphoto to become my default app to open tiff file).

how to disable it? or is there any workaround to bypass this?

Hi ADRs,

Please could you try using the advice in the following forum post to try linking Affinity to the Steel Series engine?

Your second question seems like it is more likely caused by a Windows setting or Capture one so I'm not really sure what best to advise I'm afraid. As far as I'm aware there is no way to disable the default file association message on Windows.

Thanks

the alias exe file i mentioned in the first point is the file mentioned in that post, i've got "file cannot by accessed by the system"  when i selected this file.

I guess i'll just wait for the regular MSI/exe installer then.

as for the second question, it didn't get triggered anymore, i forgot that after a windows update, the dialog app setting is sometimes get reset, so after i define the my default tiff app, the dialogue box didn't show up anymore.

thanks.
