Hi. Is there any option to force install Affinity Photo 1.x instead of doing upgrade?

I had AP installation on one of partitions and for some reason I had to change drive letter. Obviously, some programs stopped working so I've removed them and/or reinstalled them. This was not possible for AP, as I got "invalid path" error when trying to remove it.

I used Windows tool for complete removal. However, some info on AP installation must be still present on my PC somewhere, because every time I run installer, I only get the option to "update". When I "update" AP, it gets installed on C:/Program Files/Affinity (it has never been there previously). I can now remove it normally, but when I run installer again, it gives me only the "update" option.

(This happens under Win10)

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

For this situation, I would suggest the MIcrosoft Uninstall Troubleshooter (unless that's the tool you meant you'd already used).

It's likely that there is at least one Registry Key remaining that is telling the installer that the program is already installed, and where it is/was.

That's the tool that I've mentioned... I cannot use it because Affinity Photo is not on the list.

I can "install" it (by "updating"), then remove it with MS troubleshooter, but when running installer, I get "update" option only.

I'd say that there must be two of them - one that gets written when "updating" and a second that is invisible to MS troubleshooter.

Sometimes you need to tell that tool some more information when it does not find the application. I don't know the details of that, however. One of the Serif staff should be able to assist, when they get to this.

Yes, I've noticed that it's possible to provide app identifier instead of choosing it from list, but the one that I've found in the registry while looking for "affinity photo" did not solve the problem...

OK; I've got nothing more, I'm afraid.

I've not had this issue specifically but in the past I've had success with Revo Uninstaller:

Also, after uninstalling, check for Affinity 2 entries in the registry and remove. Also clear out %localappdata%\temp and reboot before trying again.

But the best idea is to contact Serif Support.

Hi, just to let you know - I actually used Revo Uninstaller and it removed AF1 completely so that I was able install it normally in a chosen directory. It's funny, because I had used Revo previously with no success, probably because of being overcautious - it seems that I must have unchecked some registry keys.

Thanks for the help!
