Affinity Suite Purchase problem on Mac App store

Recommended Posts

Purchased V2 Suite license on Mac App store. A dialog box popped up wanting me to sign into Affinity account to verify purchase. Mac Passwords app defaulted to Affinity website password and that one didn't work (should have been my Store password?). Anyway in the process of trying to validate the passsword and change it, that dialog box got cancelled and disappeared, never to appear again. So now my Mac App store purchase is pending in Apple Wallet, and I cannot activate the Suite license in the other apps. I originally was in Photo, and for some reason after the cancelled "register purchase with Affinity" dialog, the "My Account" menu is disabled, so I can't get in there to register the purchase (as instructed on Affinity Help Page). When I go into the other Suite apps, I get a dialog which will only let me Activate or Purchase. Activation fails because there is no license (when I check my account, it says no version 2 license, although I bought it on Mac App store…but still pending). The only other option is to Purchase and I don't think that is wise. I contacted credit card company and they said they cannot cancel the transaction while it is pending.  So I am stuck.

Any suggestions?

Update: People in other threads with the activation problem suggest to klick on purchase. In some cases, the apps recognize the purchase and the license before purchase it the second time. It did not work for me. I went through with purchasing it again and could then activate all the apps (Mac and iPad). The V2 license then also appeared immediately in my Affinity Account.

I then applied to Apple to refund the first purchase. That will take about 48 hours, says Apple. ( reportaproblem.apple.com )

Note: First purchase was made with AMEX, the second one with MC. Maybe AMEX has a problem, or the payment provider from Affinity has some issues with AMEX.

I have been resisting trying this, but it might be necessary. Purchase is still "Pending" per Apple Wallet, and when I look in my Serif Account, it still says "No licenses for V2", so even if I repurchase, there isn't a license there so it is unlikely to work. Cancelling the initial transaction may be the way to go. Still thinking about it….

I have apparently the same or similar problem. Designer 2 works, but no further activations. The same deal, when trying to activate another app it says 'no universal licence'. I get sent to 'my account' at Affinity which maintains that I have not purchased it.

The 'my account' tab top left in Designer seems disabled and is grayed out. The 'my account' button on the tool bar all the way to right (green person head) does work for me. When the account field opens it shows that the app is registered to me with a universal licence. So, no possibility to do what the Help Page suggests, as it is already registered (I assume the top left  account tab does the same as the tool bar account button on the right.)

The question: is that the same for you? Registered but not registered at the same time?  The question is also for the first poster if Photo similarly has two possibilities of accessing 'my account'.

@catezan Yes. Exactly the same. First activation/purchase of the Universal License was done through Affinity Designer V2. Did not activate Publisher and Photo, also not on the iPad. I then purchased the Universal License through Affinity Photo V2. With a different CC. The registration went through flawlessly, I was able to activate all Apps (2 Macs, 1 Tablet). I'm now waiting for the refund of the first purchase by Apple.

I checked the Account tab of the original program I made the purchase in, which was Photo. It says it is licensed to me but it doesn't specify the license type (I did the $99 suite license).  But when I go into Publisher which is not licensed yet, I can only see Purchase Individual or Purchase suite license with two links below them for "I have a license" and "restore purchases". Neither of the links works for me. As an aside, my Apple Credit card acct finally put the purchase through. So, heh, now I am officially out $100 and only have access to one program in the suite.  Activation instructions here say that even though I did not register my original purchase while in the App store when the dialog popped up, it says I should be able to do so in the Account tab (in the Affinity Photo menubar menu), but it is disabled, so it seems Serif's support doc needs some love and attention.

@vinnie-bobThat's it exactly. Menubar menu 'my account' doesn't work. Toolbar 'my account' does (aren't they the same?). Toolbar 'my account' shows it is registered to me, can see it is the Universal licence if 'export purchase licence' is pressed. Nothing else can be activated. Have tried signing in and out through the toolbar 'my account', nothing changes. And the same as you with the links. Purchased is confirmed through Apple and having been paid. Affinity account says no licence. I am especially riled that they say one can register through through the account tab, but then it doesn't work, or rather the menubar tab is nonfunctional.

@vinnie-bobJust got some help from a moderator at another thread. It worked for me.

In 'my account's use 'deactivate this device'.

Then re-start the app.

What happened for me was: after re-starting it looked like it did after originally downloading the app (those three fields). The sign in panel didn't work, showed 'activation unsuccessful'. The 'restore purchases' (at the bottom and not all that noticable) did open up a panel by which one can sign in. Activation successful! tested activating another app, also activated.

Maybe that helps.
