I like v1 and only recently purchased it.

Not as far as I know, but I'm no expert. I assume you're referring to Photo, not Designer nor Publisher. Unfortunately, as of now there will be (as per Serif) no further updates / patches to the v1 branch.

Embedded objects give you most of the functionality of smart object, i.e. automatically updating all instances (great for decals etc), non destructive rescaling/rotating/cropping, ability to add FX non destructively, non rasterised vector objects etc.

Our software is based on a mostly non destructive workflow and embedded objects follow this same principle.

I would advise a trial to see if it works for you.  https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/

Lee, are these specific to V2?  I have seen some YT vids on embedded layers (although I don’t quite understand the concept). At the moment I paste a logo off the internet (say a jpg) and scale it etc.  Gimp used to be terrible, the more you “handled” it the more jagged/distorted it would become.  Affinity is much better but I’m currently not doing anything “special”.

What’s an embedded object?
