Ferdinando Traversa Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Hi there, how do I get an effect like in the image, so that I can add text at the bottom because the image is dark there and then on the other side it's normal? Thanks in advance for your help. Another example: Quote
GarryP Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) There are lots of ways to do that but the easiest way will depend on the application. Which Affinity application(s) do you want to do this in? I’ve attached two videos of quick ways to do this – one for Designer/Publisher (using the Transparency Tool) and one for any Affinity application (using a Gradient on a Mask Layer). You will need to adjust the gradient in both methods to get exactly the effect that you want. There will be other ways which other people might like to add. Note: The gradient in the Mask Layer is ‘fixed’ once you have added it so to edit it you will need to add the gradient again and modify that. 2022-09-04 09-59-30.mp4 2022-09-04 10-00-25.mp4 Edited September 4, 2022 by GarryP Added video. v_kyr Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 As @GarryP already said, there are several ways to do so (... many ways lead to Rome). - One easy way with APh is for example, to place a Gradient layer (via the Gradient Tool) or apply a GradientMap filter on an image, where the Gradient is a linear type one flowing from top to bottom with according transparency stop point setups. - One can alternatively also use/apply an Gradient Overlay Layer FX effect to yield the same.
