RolWg
Please help, I have a drawing pen that I can only use to draw vertical, horizontal and 45° lines. Which option did I (accidentally) set? How do I undo this? Thanks for every hint.
Dan C
Hi @RolWg, The Pen Tool in Affinity has different 'modes' which can be activated from the Context Toolbar. You may currently be in 'Line' mode, set here - If this is not the case and you are in a different mode with the Pen Tool, then it may be that you are accidentally holding down a modifier key. When using the Pen Tool, holding down Shift will force the pen to draw only vertical, horizontal or 45° curves. Please make sure you are not pressing the Shift key when in use, as your tablet/pen may have shortcut keys that you're incidentally activating. I hope this helps! Hi Dan C, thanks for the immediate response. Which mode I choose doesn't seem to matter. And yes, I press the Shift key. So far I have always done this in order to set the next points at any point on a line after I have set the first point. I actually only know such a behavior that deviates from the mouse pointer when I use the magnet. ...
Dan C
Thanks for confirming that for me! As mentioned, with the Shift key held the Pen Tool will be forced to draw along vertical, horizontal or 45° points, if you don't want this behaviour then simply use the tool in 'Pen Mode' or 'Smart mode' without holding this key and you should find you're able to draw any shape curve you require

Sorry for the hassle. ... Must have used some mode before to get into the habit of using the shift key... 😞
