Using adjustment layers I get thumbnails of my image - not sliders!

Using adjustment layers I get thumnails not sliders

I am new to Affinity.

All the tutorials I have seen when you click on Adjusment layer you get to see the sliders

But on my installation - just 2 days old - I get some thumbnails as in the attached image. Defaut, Brighter, Darker etc.

I don't want these I just want the sliders.

Any suggestons as to why these defualt thumbnails come up?

Hi @DigNap15 welcome to the forums,

It looks like you're in the adjustments panel which give you some default presents for the different types of adjustments (These can still be adjusted via the sliders in the panel after selecting it). Another way to apply adjustments to a Photo without the thumbnail view is in the Layers Panel by clicking the adjustment button at the bottom of the panel.

Welcome to the forums @DigNap15

What you see there are the ‘Quick Adjustments’, which are the Presets for the adjustments.
If you want to see the settings for an Adjustment you can click on the adjustment thumbnail in that panel or move to the Layers Panel and double-click on the thumbnail of the relevant adjustment layer.
You can also apply adjustments via the Layers Panel by clicking the Adjustments icon at the bottom of that panel.
Search for adjustment in the Help for more information.
