Nicolas Bronstein Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 ENVIRONMENT INFORMATION: 5th GEN iPad Pro with external keyboard STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Create a new document Place an SVG image in the new document Double tap the SVG image in order to edit it Close the document by pressing “cmd + W” EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: The edit window should close and I should see the original document CURRENT BEHAVIOR: The document gets immediately closed and is impossible to open it back, each time I try to open it I receive the error “Loading failed: unable to load document” It is impossible to save, export or duplicate the document, thus blocking me from further work on this file. Please help, the fact that documents do not auto save changes to disk before explicitly giving the “save” command and that intermediate work states can’t be recovered is unexpected and counterproductive. What can I do to resume/recover my original document? Thank you. Quote
Dan C Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Hi @Nicolas Bronstein, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Thanks for your report and I'm certainly sorry to hear you're having trouble - I can confirm I've been able to replicate this issue locally and therefore I'm logging this as a bug with our developers now to be fixed ASAP. 17 hours ago, Nicolas Bronstein said: What can I do to resume/recover my original document? Can you please try following the below steps outlined by my colleague Gabe (changing the file format to '.afdesign' and not '.afphoto' - Hopefully you'll be able to recover the file using this method, please do let me know. Nicolas Bronstein Posted May 27, 2022 Author Posted May 27, 2022 Thank you @Dan C, I have tried the suggested method using iMazing, I have managed to get a copy of the saved file, but, unfortunately and to my surprise, the only content in that file is now the placed SVG, even the file size suggests so, certainly not the size of the original file with thousands of curves. So, I had to do the work twice, please make sure this problem is resolved, it is pretty instinctive to close the embedded file with cmd W to return to the main file, as usually this work is done to copy the original contents, so double tap, cmd C, cmd W and then cmd V… well, now I’m carefully avoiding it… Dan C 1 Quote
