Daub Brushes and tool modes

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Upon using Daub W&W Blenders Brushes, the tool mode automatically switches to the Smudge Tool.

However, when going back to a “regular” brush, the tool mode is still Smudge Tool, not Paint Brush, as one would expect.

Cheers,

Lars Munkedal

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

I believe that is the expected outcome, and not a bug, Lars.

When a brush has an associated tool specified, switching to that brush wil change to the associated tool.

However, when you switch to a brush that does not have an associated tool specified, you will stay on whatever tool you were previously using. That is, the tool switching is only effective when you switch to a brush that has a Tool. Most don't.

Note that the Smudge Tool you mentioned is really the Smudge Brush Tool, and it can use any brush you want to use, which makes it even more appropriate that switching to a different brush leaves you on that tool, unless you switch to a brush that specifies a different tool.

You're welcome.

That probably won't be the only thing that confuses you; there are many aspects of the Affinity applications to "get used to".
