Affinity Designer Export - Remember "Area" Option - Please fix it!

Recommended Posts

Please make Affinity Designer remember all last export settings (including selected Area option), it will save a lot of time. Seems obvious I don't know why it was not done before. Very often after the export I realise that I exported the whole document and need to redo it again.

It think it probably belongs to the bugs section of the forum but as long as I can remember this problem existed.

This has been requested before:
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/64076-remember-last-settings-export/
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/146090-remember-last-export-area-setting/
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/23377-req-remember-export-area-settings/
etc. etc.

Please search first and add your comments to an existing thread rather then make a new thread for a topic which already exists.

The more threads we have about the same thing the more difficult it is for people searching for any answers, or official responses, which might exist.

Multiple threads for the same thing ‘dilutes’ the feedback from multiple users across disparate threads and makes it more difficult for Serif to judge the overall ‘weight’ of requirements for something. A dozen petitions with a hundred names on each is not as ‘weighty’ as a single petition with over a thousand names on it.

This strategy doesn't seem to work very well. Since the "feature" (it's more a bug really) is requested since 2016

Perhaps in part because people keep breaking the rules over it and posting more and more new redundant threads splitting up the conversation?

If it were me, I might do something like reduce the priority of a non-critical request in proportion to the number of redundant threads posted about it, multiplied by the number of "+1" posts which add nothing else to the conversation.

Regardless, Serif has already indicated that they have slowed down public betas right now because they are testing the 2.0 release internally (and possibly with private testers?), so most of us don't know yet what will be coming in that release.  Maybe this has already been improved?  Maybe not.

If Serif has not documented that it should behave that way, this is not the sort of thing that should be assumed, and thus it is not a bug.  It is a very valid and perfectly reasonable feature request, so it is in the right section of the forum.
