Hello,

I have been using Affinity Photo for a long time and I even recommend it to the participants of my photo workshops. However I have a suggestion for improvement. As a professional photographer, I process a lot of images on a weekly basis, which involves adding metadata for each image. It would save me a great amount of time if I had the option to have the following fields in Metadata auto-populated with my personal/business info: Statement, URL, Attribution URL, Attribution Name, Contact Information, Source, Credit and Author.

Thank you for considering my idea.

All the best,

Catherine

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

This is already possible, though it will take some manual work to set it up and may be more cumbersome than you'd like.

Affinity Photo has support to load and save XMP sidecar files that will handle that kind of data. So you could, for example:

  1. Open a file.
  2. Open the Metadata panel (View > Studio > Metadata)
  3. Add your information to the File and Rights sections in the Metadata panel.
  4. Use the panel preferences icon (3 horizontal lines, aka burger menu) to Export the information to a file. This will save the info you added to a .xmp file.
  5. Open another file.
  6. Switch to the Metadata panel, and using that same menu you can import the data you've previously saved, so it will apply to the new image.
  7. You can also do that automatically if you enable the "Load XMP metadata from sidecar files" option near the bottom of the Preferences, General dialog in Photo,
    and
have a .xmp file with the same name as the image file you're loading. Some other photo processing programs provide those files automatically, but you could also run a script against a folder of files and create the files you need to make them load automatically in Photo.
