this is an idea for a new filter. It would be useful to have an anti-alias filter. blurring does not really work well with pixelated images. what about a filter that looks for pixelated edges and adds intermediate values to smooth them. I guess it would be a bit like a blur filter but a bit more targeted.

Once upon a time when computer generated images did not always produce antialiased images there was an application called JAG (Jaggies Are Gone). It did have a really good algorithm for smoothing jagged edges to smooth but sharp antialiased edges. I have not seen as good antialiasing solutions since.

Have to say that demand for separate antialiasing solution is not so urgent nowadays.
