MedvedMinis Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Dear Affinity community, I would like to kindly address two issues I have recently found and I have not been able to find a way to sort out. My Affinity Publisher is not able to export a PDF properly (see attached screenshots of an exported file compared to the original project file). I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro 14" and I was ought to finish a simple project on it and it was not able to complete the task properly. My older MacBook Pro had no issues whatsoever and eventually finished the same file exporting (it took years). I am completely disappointed because of no difference when it comes to exporting speed and moreover, the new MacBook Pro 14" is not even completing the task correctly (and is three times more expensive). One more thing. They are both running the same OS version and so they have the same version of the Affinity software. Does anyone have any tip or has the same problem as I do? It is quite urgent since it has been a real project. I am also attaching a screenshot of layers (if that may have any influence). Also, the preview is in Adobe Acrobat (but the issue is in exporting). My second issue is with PostScript exporting which has not been successful either. Whenever I have made a PS file and put it in Adobe Distiller, it distilled just a .log file and no PDF had appeared. Never happened to me on my older MacBook. The .log file had an error inside of its contents. Thanks a lot everyone! Quote
MedvedMinis Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 I will just attach a few more screen shots from different PDF export settings (the first posted pictures were PDF 1.7 CMYK FOGRA 39). I am attaching PDF/X-1a:2003 CMYK FOGRA 27 (just to test it out) and this is what came out! Several weird issues. Thank you all in advance! Quote
MedvedMinis Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 Guys! I have found a solution but a bizarre one. I have just opened the Affinity Publisher via Rosetta and exported with the previous first settings (thus PDF 1.7 CMYK FOGRA 39) and all displaying issues and "glitches" have disappeared. Hence, it must be an issue in between the M1 chip and program itself. Take care and please have a look at this issue! Cheers. Wosven 1 Quote
Wosven Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Did you tried disabling hardware acceleration? Perhaps you did it on the other compuer and forget to do it. Quote
MedvedMinis Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 Dear @Wosven both devices (MacBook Pro 14" and MacBook Pro 2015) had their hardware acceleration "turned on". Thus, no issue heading from that direction. The only difference is when opened on the new device via normal circumstances (not through the Rosetta). It is turned into Display: Metal by default (not allowing me to switch). However, when opened via Rosetta, it is by default on OpenGl. Thanks for asking and participating innit. Quote
