LaraJ
Hi, I have a master page applied to several pages. For some reason, after a while, when updating the master the pages where it is applied don't update anymore. Why does this happen and how can I fix it without deleting and reappyling the master to all pages? Thanks!
walt.farrell
What kind of changes are you making that don't carry over to the document pages? The most usual reason, I think, is that you made changes directly on the document pages that have disconnected some aspects of some objects from the Master. You can see that on the Layers panel by the broken orange lines next to the objects, and you can giver over those layers in the Layers panel to see what is disconnected. LaraJ
@walt.farrell I haven't made any changes directly on the pages for this master in particular (each page has 3 masters applied to it and I did make changes to one of the other masters, but updating that particular master works for the elements that were not updated on the page). On top of that, all layers of the master (the one that doesn't get updated) on the actual page have a solid orange line on the left. So it looks like the whole master was delinked or something. Is it possible to relink it without manually deleting it and adding it back for each of the hundreds of pages where it was applied in the first place? Sorry, but I don't think I understand how that could happen. When you hover over the document page in the Pages panel, does that Master Page show up as applied? I'm not sure you can reapply it without duplicating content. What kind of changes to what kind of objects are you trying to make? LaraJ
@walt.farrell When a master is disconnected, does the broken orange lines next to layers appear on the master page or the document page where the master is applied to? Because now I have another document that behaves the same and the broken orange lines next to layers appear on the master and if I duplicate those layers that have broken orange lines next to them and delete the ones with broken orange lines, they get fixed on the document page as well. I don't understand, how can layers on the master get disconnected?

On the document page. Or, more correctly, on whatever page the Master is applied to. You can apply a Master to a document page or to another Master Page.
