How do I do Brush strokes along text ?

Hi, I basically want to brush along the text with raster brushes. I remember doing it before. The brush Patterns sort of stuck to the text. Sort of like the image below. 

Tried layering as a child and that didn't work. Also tried changing the text to curves.

Any help would be fab. Racking my brain here. Thanks

You can create your brush strokes on a seperate layer and then clip this to the text layer. 

The image shown will have multiple layers clipped and overlayed over the text to achieve that look.

Thanks Lee. I remember about a year ago just brushing over the line and it followed the path. 

 

I will try the clipping technique 🙂
