The0 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 If anyone more knowledgeable than me could clarify something I'd be very grateful. If I quick mask a section of an image in Photo and apply frequency separation to just the masked area, the result is that the rest of the unmasked image become darker due to the high frequency layer's blend mode being set to Linear Light. How do I apply frequency separation to part of an image without affecting the rest of the image? Quote MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB, 4GB GPU, macOS 12.
smadell Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Hi, @Ted88. You'll need to apply the mask at the end, rather than at the beginning. Thus… 1) Duplicate the layer onto which Frequency Separation is desired. 2) Apply Frequency Separation from the Filters menu. 3) Put the High and Low Frequency layers into a Group. 4) Put a mask on the group (rather than the layers themselves) Quote Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Publisher 2, Affinity Designer 2 (latest retail versions) - desktop & iPad Culling - FastRawViewer; Raw Developer - Capture One Pro; Asset Management - Photo Supreme Mac Studio with M2 Max (2023); 64 GB RAM; macOS 13 (Ventura); Mac Studio Display - iPad Air 4th Gen; iPadOS 18
