Blurred photos when reopening an old Affinity document

I wonder if anyone knows why I sometimes when I open an old Affinity document, say 2-3 months later, some of the photos are blurred.  Am I doing something wrong?

That can mean that you've Placed images into your document, and they're Linked (not Embedded), and either (a) they're no longer present on your system or (b) the path to them has changed or (c) they've been updated, and you don't have your Affinity application set to automatically update changed resources.

When you Opened the document you should have gotten a popup telling you either that some Resources were Missing, or that they had been Updated. In either case, it would offer you several choices, including using the Resource Manager to resolve the situation.

Did you get such a message? If so, what did it say?

Which Affinity application are you using, on which OS?

Thank you very much for explaining that.  I suspect that I was linking the images rather than embedding them, which would explain why some are okay while others are not, because the path to some will have changed.  Fingers crossed this will solve.  Thank you again.

I can see that the embedding/linked images option is in Document Setup, but the default is set at linked.  How can I change the default to embed so that I don't have to remember this every time I create a new document?

You specify your preference for each document you create in the File > New dialog, where the default is determined by the Preset that you use. You could create your own Preset, or you could create a Template to use instead of a Preset.

Many thanks, again, for your help Walt.  Affinity offers great options, but it is a bit of a challenge to find your way around.  I'm of the paper handbook generation, which I always found much more navigable!
