Thank you Archangel and PaulEC. I have now sorted it. It appears that my Windows 11 laptop did not like the Google path for downloading this font (maybe that was a variable font) but was happy when I did it through Microsoft. Anyway, thanks again for all the advice. Much appreciated.

Thank you Old Bruce. Sadly, Windows keeps saying that it does not recognise Open Sans as a Font and won't let me put the download into the Fonts folder. I'm probably doing something wrong, but just can't get it to work.

How do I download an extra font? I have been asked to use Open Sans for a particular leaflets, which I don't have. Easily found online, but how do I download it into Affinity Publisher 2? Thanks.

Thank you John Rostron and Old Bruce. The logic that you both mention is clear. I need to change the default to Affinity 2, rather than Affinity 1, but I have no idea of how to do this, having spent a couple of hours trying to work it out. I am using Windows 11 and have both Affinity 1 and Affinity 2 software on my laptop. Any ideas?

Having purchased and installed the excellent Affinity 2, I find that when I open Affinity 2 documents my laptop tries to open them in Affinity1, but telling me that a later version is available, even though I created the document in question in Affinity 2. Do I need to remove the Affinity 1 software from my laptop, or would this lose me functionality?

The only option V2 offers for export is PNG. What do I need to do to create a PDF?

THANK YOU! My laptop first had Windows 10, then I upgraded to Windows 11 some time ago. This meant that I had to uninstall updates from both 10 and 11 before it worked, but it has worked and I am very grateful for your helpful advice.

I am working on an Affinity document, but Affinity keeps closing itself down. It has done so eight times in the past 20 minutes. Any ideas how I can stop this? My laptop has plenty of spare capacity and works well with every other app.

Thank you. I will need to find something else. Does this mean that tif does support transparency?

Two different formats - tif and jpeg. Transparency was the feature that I was searching for, but I couldn't find a way of ascertaining that in Affinity. I'm sure it must be there, somewhere!

I have inserted clipart into a document and placed it in a text frame which I have filled with colour. How do I get the white space around the piece of clipart to show that background colour rather sit sit in its own white box, thereby spoiling the effect? Thank you.

Many thanks, again, for your help Walt. Affinity offers great options, but it is a bit of a challenge to find your way around. I'm of the paper handbook generation, which I always found much more navigable!
