Saving large files fails with application crash

Recommended Posts

When trying to save files that are beyond 2GB in size the application fails to save it initially.

After hitting save - the application will show the save bar run through completely and immediately restart the save bar which travels to about half at which point the application hangs and crashes. It leaves behind .afphoto file. Luckily so far, the application offers an unnamed recovery file and i can save the file without error.

I can reproduce the error by simply copying multiple layers and saving the file after. BUT it doesn't happen every time just every once so often. Like every 3rd or 4th save. Its really annoying. :)

The files i am working on usually are around 100million pixel in size - so something like 8k x 12k and uses around 20 layers max usually.
And don't blame a D&D Nerd making battlemaps for it :D

Yes I am also getting this when saving larger files . Its intermittent and locks the application when saving as native afphoto file. This is with a 3gb file and it doesn't happen every time. so today I was going to modify and crop a file and so I opened and saved as a new working file and did some mods and thought I would resave as the older file as the mods benefitted that file before I went to crop the working one . The save to the older file worked and then I tried saving to the new working file and the whole thing locked .
