snittins Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 i'm using a 2017 12.9 ipad pro on ios 14.8 and had no issue with affinity designer for years. then, out of the blue today, it's been crashing every time i try to open any file and when i try to make a new document. i've tried updating the app to 10.3, restarting my ipad, and offloading the app to no avail. has anyone else faced this issue ??? is reinstalling or updating to newest ios even worth it? please help! Dan C Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Hi @snittins, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Are you able to open any document/image - or does the application crash regardless of whether you are opening an existing file, an image from Apple Photos or a new, blank file? Is the app crashing when rendering the canvas, or does the document open and you can pan around etc, but then when attempting to use any tool the app crashes? I'd recommend trying the Force Restart method to wipe your iPads cache, the try using the app once again. Is this still crashing for you? Many thanks in advance! Quote
snittins Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 hello @Dan C ! i'm unable to open any of my preexisting documents, as soon as i try to open one it instantly crashes (without showing any error messages). this also happens with trying to make a new document, or importing something from my photos. i tried the force restart this morning and it still has been crashing . is it possible reinstalling the app will fix the problem? thanks for the reply! Dan C Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Thanks for letting me know and I'm certainly sorry to hear this! It's absolutely possible this may help, but please bare in mind that reinstalling the app will lose all of your current open documents, custom brushes and assets etc - so I would recommend making a saved copy of your files (outside of the Affinity Designer folder, as this is also removed when uninstalling) and exporting any resources you wish to keep. Once reinstalled, does this stop the issue from occuring for you please? Quote
snittins Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 @Dan C thank you so much for the help and insight! i followed your advice and reinstalled affinity designer. seems to be working for now, but i have my fingers crossed that the devs will be able to fix this issue in the future! Quote
