Hi. I'm new to Affinity Designer. I'm not even sure if I'm using the right vocabulary here, so please bear with me.

I'm interested in creating 3-dimensional designs using layers. The designs will be exported to SVG for use on my CNC/Laser cutting machine.

If I design 2 layers, is it possible to add X number of interpolative layers in between so that the transitions between the layers are smooth or gradually "morphed" from one to another?

The goal is to create layers similar to 3D layered mandala designs, such as the one attached here. It seems like it should be possible to design the top and bottom layers and have the computer fill in the other in-between layers.

If this isn't feasible with AffinityDesigner, if anyone has any other ideas on how to accomplish this, I would really appreciate it.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

assuming that the layers share the shape, and differ only in size : you can use power duplicate to create many copies with the size or position modified at every copy.

If the shape itself (curve) is different, you need to look for other apps (“morphing”)

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.
