Clone Brush: Add cloned area to a new pixel layer

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am very new to Affinity. I just wanted to test some common workflows I used to use in Photoshop and here is my first problem with Clone Brush:

I am selecting a source area to clone but want to add the clone to a new pixel layer. But it seems that I can only clone within the source layer.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello @Aniko and welcome to the forums.

Go to View --> Studio and tick Sources. After that add a source from the layer panel. To do this mark the source layer and click add button in the source panel.

Double click the layer in the source panel and use the clone tool at a (blank) pixel layer.  Hit F1 and search for sources for detailt information.

Wow, thank you so much for your fast replies! Both methods work fine and I see the respective advantages of both of them, thanks a lot!

You are welcome!
