andmocychmen
I recently got an iPad to use affinity designer. However, among other things, I am struggling to find where my files are saved. I an talking about my afdesign files, not exported png files. When I tried saving a copy, I was redirected some folder in local files, but I could not see the original file. So, where is it? Kindly help, thank you.
Staff MEB Posted August 20, 2021 Staff Share Posted August 20, 2021 Hi @andmocychmen, Welcome to Affinity Forums This depends on what's set in the Affinity Photo's General Preferences section. Go there and check what is says in the Default Save Location. If is says on my On My iPad, go to the Files app, select On My iPad on the left and look for the Affinity Designer folder there. Similar thing if it says on iCloud Drive in Affinity Preferences, the files are be located in the iCloud Drive section, Affinity Designer folder in the Files app. You can select/set whatever location you prefer (On My iPad or iCloud Drive) in the Default Save Location in Affinity Designer Preferences. andmocychmen
Hi! It says on my iPad. I indeed had already located that folder, but I can only see exported images there. Not the actual afdesign files.
Staff MEB Posted August 20, 2021 Staff Share Posted August 20, 2021 How are you "saving" the files exactly? To save an affinity file of the project, tap the hamburger menu on the bottom right of each thumbnail (in the sandbox area of the app where you see all your current projects) and select Save from the popup menu. Then look for the file in the respective folder in File app as explained above. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
andmocychmen
Ok I got it. I was fooled by the fact projects and files seemed to be saved automatically, and so when I couldn’t find the files I couldn’t make sense of it. But now all is in order thanks.
