Hi,
I have an issue with my .afdesign file. I was working on it, saved it and everything was fine. But when I got back to it a day or two later, it now says a file is corrupted and is closing instantly.
In earlier versions of Affinity Designer, what I've used to do is I would create a new .afdesign file, embed a broken file, and then search for a layer or object that causes trouble. Removing that one, faulty thing usually helped and solved the problem, but now this doesn't work. This file is crucial for me (I have backups but they are like a week ago, and I need a current file because I made many changes to it). I would love your help to help me recover it. This situation happens a lot to me, and I don't know why. Usually, it's not a problem because I backup frequently, but this time I did a backup 7 days ago and it's crucial for me to get the current file. Is it something with Affinity Designer that keeps breaking my files? Or is it something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks and best wishes!

Had to import into Publisher so now in spreads/pages not Artboards

Pages accessible via pages menu at bottom left of screen

No idea what original document looked like, so now just looks like a complete mess to me

But hopefully all, up-to-date, elements are there and you can copy them to a new document with the correct Artboards

Thank you very much! Yes, it is now very clattered :). But, by the look of things, some of the elements I added since my last backup are there, so I can retrieve them.

By the way, is it a way of fixing your files - exporting them into Publisher? Like I've described in my post, what I've used to do is to import a broken file into new Designer file, now it's the thing with Publisher?

Publisher has the option, "add pages from file"... that sometimes allows you to import corrupt documents (sometimes not)

Regular backups are the only reliable way of dealing with corruptions that can occur in the Affinity apps
