The0 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) This is starting to really annoy me (and clearly so many other people). Every day I have to work with software that randomly doesn't register key presses to change between tools, trying to delete a layer with the delete key doesn't work despite the delete key being assigned to that function, other times it only works when the Move tool is selected (this can't be normal behaviour?) and the worst bug to date is the incomplete brush stroke when using pressure with a tablet as in the attached media. It's not a graphics card issue, by that I mean I have a specced out machine that handles 4k video editing without a problem. The issue in the video is only present in Designer persona. The raster brush works perfectly with pen pressure in Pixel Persona. What is going on? Thanks in advance to anybody who can throw some light on these issues. Staff Sean P Posted August 9, 2021 Staff Posted August 9, 2021 Hi Ted88, If you can get some reproducible steps for the other issues you've mentioned then we can look into them, but unfortunately without that information (videos, steps to reproduce, files to relate etc) we cannot properly investigate those. The issue your video shows is that as you're drawing with your tablet, the end handle is constantly changing direction and causes the graphical issues you're seeing. It tends to happen mostly with slower strokes as it feels like the velocity is lost and so the node handle doesn't know which direction it should be pointing giving you the issue you're seeing. This can be tweaked to look correct if you select the Node and just move the Bezier handle for the end node. I will get your comments passed over to development however. Quote
The0 Posted August 9, 2021 Author Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) That's very helpful thank you Sean P and makes a lot more sense for slower strokes given that the software has to make many calculations to try and figure out what it's being told to do. As far as the software not recognising key presses to select/change between tools, this is completely random and I cannot offer any sequential steps that lead up to the key press not being recognised. The issue of not being able to delete layers with the delete key is only present in Designer Persona. It's in this persona that I can only delete a selected layer with the delete key when the Move tool is selected. In Pixel Persona it doesn't matter which tool is active, pressing the delete key will delete a layer as expected. Incidentally, Affinity Photo doesn't have this problem. I'm new to vector stuff so is there something I'm not understanding with regards to nodes and having to have the Move tool selected in order to delete a layer?
