Raw files showing on affinite as jpegs

I am using a mac  and Canon R5 my photos are shot in raw but when I go into Affinity photos to work on them, they are showing as 8bit jpeg

Hello @Gen10, and welcome to the forums.

Coud you be more precise as to what you mean by "when I go in.to Affinity to work on them"? How are you opening these files? By using File > Open? Or by double-clicking on the raw file icon? Or by dragging the  file icon into the workspace? What makes you say your file is an 8-bit jpeg? Could you provide a screenshot showing this?
