Affinity Designer - Line break in text?

Recommended Posts

Given no one else has pitched-in here....

You're using a keyboard with the iPad? That immediately puts this outside my experience I'm afraid.

However... I'm not aware Designer allows line breaks like that. Does a copy-paste a forced line-break from Pages work?

I assume you can't simply make the width of the container smaller, becuase there are other lines within the block that break nicely? Are you breaking because there's a hypen issue? If so, would addressing the hyphen instead be a ploy to explore?

Hope this is helpful.

Words are crude implements, difficult to get perfect, easy to get tied in knots with, and often - usually - misunderstood, which is why 'tolarence' is the best word of all.

The word "professional" fits us all - amateur, semi-pro, beginner, advanced, middle, beyond it all, and on....., because professionals are tolerant.

Is there a way to do this?

I don’t have a keyboard but using the screen keyboard: I find that if you add a space after a full stop then tap return
you get a line break. (As shown here).
If you don’t add a space after the full stop, when you tap return you get a paragraph break.

I haven’t tried with all characters but it seems to only work with full stop
(you can go back and remove the full stop from the end of the line as I did with this paragraph).

What odd behaviour... How do you create a paragraph with more than one sentence simply flowing in a normal way then, I wonder?

Sorry, I meant to imply that these steps preceded a CR (return key tap). On rereading I can see how this might not be clear so I have edited my post accordingly 🙂
The point of the post was to show that a full stop followed by a return behaves differently to a full stop followed by a space followed by a return. The first is a paragraph break the latter a line break. Hopefully this helps the OP who was seeking a way to add a line break.
