"Affinity Photo Not Responding".... since update to 9.2

Recommended Posts

Since updating to AP 9.2 I am constantly seeing this dialogue before the programme freezes and has to be closed down and be restarted.  Windows 10

It is becoming very difficult to progress beyond 2 or even 3 layers and also extremely frustrating as work cannot progress.

Anybody else experiencing the same difficulties ?  Any tips to resolve this ?

No such problems before the recent update.

What graphics card to you have and how much RAM is installed?  Did the computer act the same with version 1.9.1 as it is now with 1.9.2?  I installed 1.9.2 with no issues but I have 32 GB of RAM and a Nvidia Quadro P2200 Card.

Hi @elbingo,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Our latest update implemented OpenCL Hardware Acceleration to Windows, which utilises your Graphics Card to help render the Affinity document.
A few users are experiencing issues with this enabled, the number one cause of which is outdated Graphics Card drivers. Please visit the manufactures link below to download the latest driver available -

- Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
- Nvidia: https://www.geforce.com/drivers
- AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-driver-autodetect

Note: you may need to go direct to your PC manufactures website for the driver, if you see a warning regarding 'OEM drivers' when trying to install one from the above sites.

Once downloaded and installed, please restart your computer and then launch the Affinity app again. Does this resolve the freezing issue you're experiencing?

If not, can you please navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me?

Many thanks in advance :)
