[KNOWN ISSUE] Latest AMD Adrenalin Drivers (21.5.2) Cause the Affinity apps to crash when loading

This issue was first reported here.

When using the latest release version for AMD Adrenalin drivers (version 21.5.2) the Affinity apps crash when loading if OpenCL is active.

These latest drivers have also reportedly caused driver BSODs on Windows, which indicates an issue with the driver itself, rather than the Affinity app.

The suggested solutions are as follows -

Downgrade Adrenalin Drivers

Uninstalling these latest drivers and reinstalling a previous version resolves this issue within Affinity. During installation of the older drivers we recommend selecting the option to perform a factory reset, which will remove any versions of the Adrenalin driver and ensure that this version is the only driver installed.

Disable OpenCL for the Affinity app

By following the below FAQ, you can disable OpenCL for the Affinity apps, which will allow the app to load again - however you may still experience other Windows issues with the 21.5.2 driver installed, as mentioned above, in which case downgrading may be your best option.

We have reported this issue to AMD directly, who will hopefully release a fix for this shortly.

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
