How do i remove devices from "Registered apps & devices"

Recommended Posts

Lets say i lost access to my computer and i wanted to log out from my account for Affinity Photo on that particular pc.
How would i be able to do that with the only option being logging out directly from the application on my now non existing pc?
If the dev team could add a "de-authorize" button to the site or something similar that would be very helpful.

Best Regards!

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Even signing out on your PC would not de-register or de-authorize the device. All it would do, if you chose the right option while signing out, is prevent use of any Affinity Store content that you had downloaded via the Account Sync feature.

It would not prevent, for example, use of the application itself; just use of that Store content.

Similarly, as the applications do not check-in with the Store to see if they are registered before they will run (or the content can be used), de-authorizing them at the Store will not prevent them from running if you lose your PC and someone else is able to sign-in to Windows on it.

Thus, I'm not convinced that your idea would accomplish what you think it would. However, I like it for another reason. Eventually, as I replace computers, I will become tired of having the old computers remain on the list, and will want to trim them off. A de-authorize function would accomplish that.

Thank you for your answer!
This is far the most active and helpful community I've ever been part off.

I said "lost access to my computer" for the easy way to explain myself. I just wipe my disks often and i usually forget to log out from stuff so i have to use the remote logout option in those services.
The main thing that annoys me is the tens of useless devices that will clog up the menu as time goes on like you said. A simple button would do the trick. Maybe ill write a feature suggestion for this particular issue.

That's different, I think. If all you're doing is wiping the disk and reinstalling, then you'll be prompted to Register for the Account Sync function. But at at that point, instead of registering you can just say you already have an account, and simply sign-in. You won't get a new entry in the devices list.

I'm pretty sure if wipe my whole system and reinstall windows its gonna register as a new device, because technically its a new "computer" from the software's knowledge.

I don't think the application will know or care. But I'm not going to wipe my computer to try it :)
