clone filter settings from edited image

Recommended Posts

I am an occasional user without profound AP knowledge. I've edited pictures with adjustment filters in the past (mostly Colour balance and hue/saturation). Unfortunately I have deleted the AP files years ago, beyond my backup. Now I'd like to use the same filter settings on other images. I have the original image and the edited image as jpg. Is there a tool that, like the colour picker, lets you "pick", i.e. re-identify the filter settings by comparing the final product to the original?

Nice wayang photo :)

Yes, you can do this using a LUT adjustment. I think the proper steps would be:

  1. Open the original image.
  2. Click the Adjustment icon at the bottom of the Layers panel, and choose LUT... from the adjustment list. (Or Layer > New Adjustment Layer > LUT...)
  3. Click Infer LUT in the LUT adjustment dialog.
  4. You will get a dialog to load a file. Locate the original image (again) and Open it in that dialog.
  5. You will get another dialog to load a file. Locate the image that has the adjustments you want to copy. Open it in that dialog.
  6. An inferred LUT adjustment will be created.
  7. Click Add Preset, and give it a name.

After that, to apply the adjustments to another image, Open that image. Go to the Adjustments panel, click on the LUT category, and click on your Preset in the list that appears within the LUT adjustments list.
