homeport
I was looking at pixlemator and almost bought until I read posts on this software and it appears perfect, I have a couple of questions please, it does do layers, and it will do text? Alos if I buy it now how will free upgrades work in terms of time before I have to pay again for a new upgrade Thank you
Staff MEB Posted October 5, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 5, 2015 Hello homeport, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Yes, it does support layers and also work with text (although doesn't support text-on-a-path). We are committed to two years of free upgrades from Photo's launch date. Check Photo's roadmap to see what's coming in the following months. GaryC
I have actually used pixelmator a bit but to be honest, I feel in my opinion, Affinity blows it away. I shoot professional and it does everything I need. I feel with some minor upgrades and a few more tools, this will be the go to for a lot of photographers. Cheers, Gary

Broicher
I bought Pixelmatr myself. It is a very beautifully designed piece of software, no doubt, and it works fine, but I never really switched to Pixelmator and kept using GIMP simply because there were some really important things that I could only do with GIMP and not with Pixelmator (like wavelet transformation or the less sophisticated frequency separation). Once I tried and then very quickly bought AP, I never went back to GIMP again and do not really feel the need to open Pixelmator.
