Affinity Photo v. 1.9.1.979 crashes using healing tools

Recommended Posts

I've never had problems with Affinity photo until I downloaded the latest version 1.9.1.979

I have been carrying out restoration on a damaged image using the inpainting brush - this tool has ceased to work and doesn't work after a restart.

Using the healing brush instead the application freezes often and you have to close the program down and restart from a recovery file.

Having worked through half of the repair work on a badly damaged image, saving at regular intervals, I found that on trying to reopen  via the open recent facility the error message "The file .............. afphoto could not be found. Do you want to remove it from your recently used list" This was the most annoying as I had spent hours working on it saving regularly.

Is it possible to restore the old version?

Hi @DavidHeatherington Sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues.

Have you managed to find the file by manually looking for it in Finder? Did you start working on the file in the previous version and finish it on 1.9.1.979?

The work was all done in the latest version of Affinity Photo.

Two files saved under different names at different stages of the work are shown in the open recent list but when I click on them they are not found.

I have dome a search of the hard disk for the files but they cannot be found.

The in painting brush stopped working half way through the work and no longer works when other files are loaded.

I have had crashing issues when using the healing tool as an alternative to the in-painting tool.

I use Affinity Photo regularly but have only had issues in the last couple of days after starting work cleaning up this image.

I'm sorry to hear you were unable to find the document. It appears that this issue is an OpenCL acceleration issue that will be fixed in the next beta. In the meantime try disabling OpenCL acceleration. You can find it at: Edit > Preferences > Performance.
