POPPY TOODLES
I can't export at all. I get the message: "an error occurred while exploring to: [has file name here]" Then it says "the file could not be created." The program is pretty much useless right now. Staff Gabe Posted February 25, 2021 Staff Share Posted February 25, 2021 Hi @POPPY TOODLES, Welcome to the forums and sorry for the delayed reply. Sorry for the delayed reply. Where do you try to save the file? where is your document stored? Have you got the Mac App Store version of the app? or the Affinity Store? howlinmad
I had a problem exporting also. I was finishing up a pretty complex photo manipulation and I had forgotten to save the project prior to finishing it, and tried to export to jpeg. I the first dialogue box opened and I when I clicked export the dialogue box went away but no save options opened up (where you name the file you want to save as, as well as the location.) I tried to "save as" the entire document and the same thing happened: I couldn't choose location or name. I also tried to save it as a TIFF. No luck. I also tried to copy a flattened version of the photo into a new tab to save that. Still nothing. I eventually closed the program and opened it back up. I lost everything; I tried to open from clipboard but that option was grayed out so that whole project is lost and I'm not sure I want to go through the trouble of re doing it. POPPY TOODLES
I get various error messages. I have tried saving to download, then to iCloud. The latest message is that "save failed because you do not have permission to create a file in that location." It prompts to save as a new file. But, the same thing happens when I try that. I purchased this from the App Store. My files are stored on my drive/in the cloud. I am pretty picky about file locations, so they go to various folders within a subfolder system within my larger documents folder. Typically, I initially save things to downloads. When the final files are complete, they are then moved to their final resting place. I appreciate any assistance you can give me. Thank you! teryg93
I'm having the same problem--I can't export. I'm trying to export to jpg but am told I can't save. I tried to export to png with the same results. I was able to export yesterday and earlier today. I have not updated the operating system (11.4) or Affinity Photo (1.9.3) between when it did work and when it stopped working. I'm also having problems saving files. In order to create a new Affinity Photo file, I'm having to duplicate an existing file, rename it, wait, then open the duplicate. I can then edit and (so far) save the duplicated file. But I can't export it. I somehow purchased the app through the Mac store (not sure why or how, since that's not usually my preference). I saw the thread about checking fonts. I opened Font Book. I do not have thousands of fonts, which the thread mentioned, but there are over 500. I could delete some but don't want to take the time if that's not the problem. I have not added fonts between the time when I could export and the time when I could not. No other software is giving me problems.

freshlesh03
I am having the same problem. Except without the error messages. I can't export or save, and doesn't give any prompts on what to do next. I purchased Affinity designer through the App store, but the same thing happens in Affinity Publisher as well, and I got that directly from Serif. What do I do? Staff Gabe Posted June 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted June 16, 2021 Can you try lowering that number down and see if that makes any difference? @freshlesh03 please create a new thread and attach a screen recoding of your workflow so we can look into it. We can't really do it all in one post here.
