Pyanepsion
I am a little surprised to see that nothing has changed in the last two years in the shameful French translation of the Affinity suite. Serif then goes on to justify this inaction by stating that the French-speaking market does not justify spending money to review it. It’s the snake that bites its own tail! A translation that is not a translation leads to the aberrant result of a disastrous market share in French, whereas among its competitors the French-speaking countries contribute on the contrary to a large part of their turnover. How can this be said? I’m not a translator at all, and to write here, I obviously use a powerful translation tool (no! it’s not Google translate), but that’s not enough. That’s probably what Affinity’s translators also do, except that as they don’t know the terms in French, they translate anything anyhow. In addition, differences in word length between different languages have not been addressed, which leads to overflow since English generally uses short words. If the translators had not been amateurs, they would have noticed this in the context checking stage, but they did not do so either. Here is an example of how to correct the mistranslation of the ‘Stroke’ Panel. We have this window with many misinterpretations: This window is no exception. In red, a more correct translation.
